Interim Chancellor Jan Simek is the chief operating officer of the University of Tennessee's flagship campus in Knoxville, and is responsible for administration and management of the campus. The chancellor is an officer of the University of Tennessee system and as such is elected annually by the Board of Trustees, upon recommendation of the president of the system. The chancellor reports directly to the president.
Robert C. Holub serves as Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and, as such, has primary responsibility for the academic activities on the Knoxville campus. The provost reports directly to the chancellor.
