UT Colors

By longstanding tradition, orange is the color most generally associated with the University of Tennessee—regardless of campus-specific differences. Accordingly, the color orange is central to UT's statewide and national recognition.

This can sometimes be confusing, inasmuch as that same orange is the official color and hallmark of UT Knoxville. Each of the other campuses—UT Chattanooga, UT Martin and the UT Health Science Center—also have individual color combinations.

The University Graphic Standards Guidelines attempt to address color application in a way that maximizes the benefit of the strong association with orange while maintaining individuality of each campus.

The following stipulations reflect that effort:

  • Each campus is to use orange only for the icon logo for official signage, letterhead and business cards. This has the two-fold benefit of continuity of brand image and identifying the campus—and taking advantage of the inherent benefits—as a member of the UT family.
  • For materials other than official signage, letterhead and business cards, each campus has the option to use the icon logo in black or white, if preferred.

Each campus has separate PMS color designations for official use, and these may be used in conjunction with the orange icon logo or with the icon in black or white. The campus colors may be used as a background or accent color for the icon. The icon logo is not to be rendered in the individual campus colors.
