Use of the University Seal

The University of Tennessee seal is restricted for use only on official documents (diplomas, for example) and other such limited usage when the most formal tone of the university is demanded.

The intent is twofold: first is to use the UT logo consistently to create the visual brand and, second, to raise the perceived value of the seal through limited usage.

As with the university signature, similar restrictions apply with the reproduction of the seal. The seal has been rendered to be reproduced on both a light value background and a dark value background. When reproducing the seal, use discretion in selecting the appropriate format.

The design or use of any other seal representing the university, or its campuses or units, is/are prohibited.
