Typography

Typefaces (fonts) are an important element of a graphic identity. The official font of the UT wordmark is Goudy Oldstyle Std. with the exception of the Institute of Agriculture, which has permission to use Gotham for the wordmark.

The systemwide supporting font is Gotham. The supporting font is for department and/or individual contact information, which should always appear beneath the campus, institute or college wordmark.

Goudy Oldstyle Std is a serif font available for purchase in OpenType and TrueType formats. The Gotham font family is a sans serif typeface available for purchase in OpenType format.

Beyond supporting the wordmark as outlined here, individual units within the University have flexibility to choose which fonts appear in their communications. Care should be taken when selecting an appropriate font. Readability should be top-of-mind.
