UT Foundation

The University of Tennessee Foundation is an independent, not-for-profit entity created in 2001 to support the University's educational, research and public service activities. As the preferred channel for all private contributions that benefit students and faculty, the UT Foundation works with alumni and other prospective donors to secure funds for scholarships, professorships, research, outreach programs and other University initiatives.

At the heart of the UT Foundation graphic identity is the logo, the one graphical element that symbolizes the membership of every part of the UT Foundation in the UT family. The foundation’s affiliation with the University is illustrated by the University wordmark and icon being incorporated in the logos for both the foundation’s fundraising and alumni programs. These are the only logos approved to represent the UT Foundation. Use of any other typographic or visual combinations is not permitted.

The UT Foundation logo is the only logo approved to represent the UT Foundation and UT alumni offices. It must be used in all fundraising solicitations and materials to ensure transparency. As a general rule, all foundation- and alumni-related materials should use the appropriate UT Foundation or UT Alumni logo, unless the materials being created are stationery for the UT president, a chancellor or a dean to sign. In these cases, it is permissible to use the campus marks.

While some of campuses use a campus-specific logo, the vice chancellors of development and alumni affairs for each campus have chosen to stay with the winged UT icon as the logo to represent all foundation and alumni offices. Campus alumni and foundation offices may use campus marks as secondary logos on materials, but a campus logo should never be proceeded by the words “alumni” or “foundation.”

A UT Foundation Graphic Identity Guide—consistent with the University's overall graphic identity standards—governs Foundation marks. Download the guide as a PDF or call Chandra Harris-McCray at 865-974-2115 for more information.
