UT Vice President Henry Nemcik Announces Resignation

May 24, 2010

Henry Nemcik, vice president for development and alumni affairs and president of the UT Foundation, has announced his intent to resign and accept a new position at another university. His resignation is effective Sept. 13, 2010.

In the meantime, Nemcik will help with the transition to new leadership and will continue his work on the Campaign for Tennessee.

"Henry has done extraordinary work on the Campaign, which is on track to meet its $1 billion goal well ahead of schedule," UT Interim President Jan Simek said. "He has vastly improved the University's development efforts and has infused new enthusiasm among our donors and alumni since his arrival to UT in September 2005."

Nemcik said he made the decision because it is a new challenge and a way to further his career goals.

"Working for the University of Tennessee has been a wonderful experience," he said. "I feel privileged to have been a part of such a professional team and will miss all my colleagues."

Development and alumni affairs are critical elements to the future of the University, and we will strive to continue Henry's work to improve these areas, Simek said.

An interim vice president will be appointed shortly, he said.
