KNOXVILLE -- The University of Tennessee president's annual campus tour
begins in Memphis on Wednesday, Sept. 2.
Over the next month, Interim President Jan Simek and members of his
staff will spend a day at each of the UT System's campuses. In addition,
there will be a Nashville stop to meet with employees based in Middle
Tennessee, and Simek will visit with Institute for Public Service
employees while they are meeting in Norris.
During the visits, Simek will meet with campus administrators, faculty,
staff, students, public officials and community leaders.
"In these tough economic times, it is important to reassure everyone
that the University is continuing to move forward and that improving our
quality remains the paramount goal," Simek said.
The tour provides the campuses with an opportunity to highlight their
achievements and goals. Employees also have a chance to voice their
concerns and ask questions in a face-to-face setting.
There are two new features with this year's tour -- a special Web site
and Twitter.
You can follow the tour with updates from each stop by visiting
