The University of Tennessee, Knoxville
The Knoxville campus serves the state, nation, and international community through a broad spectrum of undergraduate and graduate studies, research and creative activity, and public service and outreach. The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, welcomes and honors people of all races, creeds, cultures, and sexual orientations, and values intellectual curiosity, pursuit of knowledge, and academic freedom and integrity.
Faculty members are skilled teachers and scholars who encourage full student participation in the intellectual life that such a faculty makes possible. The total campus enrollment of about 25,000 is an appropriate mix of undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students.
Undergraduate students are admitted competitively, and each first-year class comprises the best-prepared students from Tennessee and around the world. Articulation agreements with Tennessee community colleges insure that transfer students enroll properly. All undergraduate curricula encourage creative thought, ethical behavior, respect for diversity, and intellectual development.
Graduate and professional degrees are offered in the colleges of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources; Architecture and Design; Arts & Sciences; Business Administration; Communication and Information; Education, Health & Human Sciences; Engineering; Law; Nursing; Social Work; and Veterinary Medicine. Endowed faculty chairs, research Centers of Excellence, and the alliance with the Oak Ridge National Laboratory create graduate and professional scholarship opportunities unique to the Knoxville campus.
The campus environment promotes student success: advisement and academic support enhance student development; student government, leadership, and cultural programming encourage extracurricular growth. Students and faculty have access to the most current library and information technology resources.
The University of Tennessee Health Science Center
The Health Science Center aims to improve human health-through education, research, and public service. The Memphis campus includes colleges with disciplines in Allied Health, Health Science Engineering, Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy. Patient care, professional education, and research also are carried out at hospitals and clinical sites across Tennessee.
Endowed professorships, Research Centers of Excellence, and continuing relationships with Memphis-area health care facilities like St. Jude's ensure that both basic science and applied clinical research stay focused on contemporary health topics. Non-clinical healthcare policy studies and related Public Health issues also are important to campus researchers.
The University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture
The Institute of Agriculture provides instruction, research, and veterinary clinical and extension services to serve the needs of students, clients, farmers, families and other citizens-in Tennessee and around the world.
Undergraduate, graduate and professional classroom instruction takes place in Knoxville in the facilities of the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources and the College of Veterinary Medicine. Veterinary clinical services are offered in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Knoxville and in selected counties throughout Tennessee. Extension services are offered in every Tennessee county. Basic and applied research is conducted in Knoxville and at Research Stations statewide. The Institute's statewide presence improves the quality of life, enhances well-being of livestock, pets and wildlife, increases agricultural productivity and income, protects the environment, promotes the economic well-being of families, and conserves natural resources.
The University of Tennessee Institute for Public Service
The Institute for Public Service serves Tennesseans by linking University expertise with community and workplace needs. The Municipal Technical Advisory Service and County Technical Assistance Service provide technical and managerial assistance and training for city, town, and county governments across the state. The Center for Industrial Services, using the expertise of faculty and staff, helps keep Tennessee's manufacturing sector efficient and productive. The Law Enforcement Innovation Center promotes innovation in state and local police agencies across the U.S. in partnership with Oak Ridge National Laboratory and faculty. Overall, the institute promotes economic development throughout the state by helping increase quality, improve revenues, reduce costs, and create jobs.
The University of Tennessee Space Institute
The Space Institute located in Tullahoma serves the region, state and beyond through interdisciplinary research, technology transfer and graduate education in selected areas of engineering and sciences.
Funded research is emphasized in areas of advanced technology with potential for economic growth of the region and the state. Focus research areas include propulsion, hypersonics, clean energy/transportation, biophysics, computational modeling and simulation in addition to other areas of aeronautics and space. Graduate degree programs are offered through UT, Knoxville in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical and Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering /Engineering Management, Engineering Science, Aviation Systems, Physics and Mathematics. Some of these programs are available to students in industry and military installations by distance education technologies. UTSI has active cooperative relationships with Governmental facilities such as the Arnold Engineering Development Center and Oak Ridge National Laboratory and other regional universities.
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga will serve as a national model of an engaged metropolitan university whose faculty, staff, and students, in collaboration with external partners, employ the intellectual resources of the liberal arts and professional programs to enrich the lives of those we serve.

The University of Tennessee at Martin
The primary purpose of the University of Tennessee at Martin is to provide a quality undergraduate education in a traditional collegiate atmosphere characterized at all levels by close relationships among students and faculty. In addition, the graduate and distributed learning programs meet lifelong educational needs for all seeking knowledge. Appropriate technologies support research, scholarship, and creative endeavors, which enhance teaching and expand knowledge. The University is committed to public service and applied research efforts to enhance the economic, educational, aesthetic, and cultural life of the region.
