Development Guidelines

The concept behind Cherokee Farm aesthetics is creating an innovative research campus that integrates sustainable designs, promotes collaboration, collegiality, and the site’s diverse history, and connects with Knoxville and the region.

The Cherokee Farm Development Guidelines set the general development framework for the campus and outline how development will meet goals identified in the Master Plan.

The Cherokee Farm Master Plan was developed by two committees comprised of local business leaders, community members, University of Tennessee Medical Center representatives, Oak Ridge National Laboratory officials, and UT faculty and administrators.

The Development Guidelines cover all facets of campus development: architecture, parking, access, utilities, signage, and landscape and streetscape design.

The guidelines complement the Standard Ground Lease for the campus. Where these development guidelines conflict with other requirements or standards, the more restrictive standard will apply.
