Starting out as a youth in 4-H, Janet Cluck has always been involved in UT Extension. Her positive experiences in 4-H heavily influenced her decision to work for Dickson County Extension where she currently serves as country director.
"I admired and appreciated my county Extension agents and wanted to follow their example to help others have the same positive youth development experience that meant so much to me," Janet said.
During her time with Dickson County Extension, Janet has worked with both 4-H and Family and Consumer Sciences impacting both families and youth in Dickson County.
One of her most rewarding experiences was helping to create a program in conjunction with local schools to give more than 450 youth the opportunity to develop leadership skills. Although Janet no longer oversees the program, it has continued its youth development mission in the county.
Even after 30 years of service, Janet is still excited about her work. "I consider the families and individuals with whom I work to be friends as well as clients," she said. From working with young 4-H'ers to entire families, Janet loves the opportunity to work with people and help strengthen her community.
Janet enjoys Big Orange athletics, cooking, reading and needlework.
