When the 1982 World’s Fair in Knoxville closed, Sue Denning was looking for a new career. She contacted an old colleague, made a few connections with UT employees and wound up in the UT Alumni Office. Thirty-one years later, with her bone-dry humor intact, Sue is still enjoying her work.
“Getting to know fantastic alumni and seeing how UT has made a difference in their lives has been very rewarding,” Sue said. “The alums that have a strong appreciation and love for UT have made this job so very enjoyable.”
While working with alums has enriched Sue’s life, she has carved a beautiful legacy of her own. When asked to share some thoughts about Sue, Assistant Vice President for Alumni Affairs and Annual Giving Kerry Witcher noted:
“My first thoughts are to use the words caring and dependable. Sue cares about her job, which is why she does it so well and also cares for other people. She is completely dependable, always strives to do good work, and I know something will be done well and on time if she is responsible.”
Sue is an alumni assistant in the UT Alumni Association Office. When Sue is not at work, she enjoys reading and cross-stitching.
