Except for a brief time in the 1970's, Lee Dodds has been at UT for half a century, earning three degrees for himself and sending his two children through the UT system as well.
Lee considers one of his proudest moments during his 35 years at UT to be when he was selected as head of the Department of Nuclear Engineering. During his 15-year tenure as department head, Lee has seen the program rise to be ranked ninth in the nation (eighth among public institutions) by U.S. News and World Report. He credits this achievement entirely to the hard work of the faculty, staff and students in the program.
"There is no better satisfaction as a leader than to see the successes of those that I have had the privilege to lead," Lee said.
When Lee isn't working in the department, he enjoys playing golf, gardening, fishing, coaching UT intramural basketball, swing dancing, travelling and occasionally being a couch potato watching documentaries and sports on TV.
He has already agreed to fail retirement because he plans to teach a graduate course next semester as professor emeritus.
