Working as a UT photographer for 30 years has given Nick Myers the chance to meet a variety of people from students to famous individuals such as Alex Haley and President George H.W. Bush.
Before he started work for UT, Nick served as a combat photographer in the U.S. Marine Corps. After his honorable discharge from the Marines, he applied for a photography position at UT and has been with the University ever since.
Nick thoroughly enjoys his job as a photographer. "Where else can a person order a president or someone famous to smile or stand in a certain place?" he joked.
As a photographer, Nick gets to travel, meet people and document moments for future generations.
Nick has been there for many important moments in UT's history, one of his most memorable being when he photographed Alex Haley, and they talked about what it was like for Haley to receive his first million-dollar paycheck.
Nick and his wife Evelyn have three children and are proud grandparents of three girls and one boy.
In his free time, Nick enjoys outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, backpacking and shooting sports and is also a Leave No Trace backpacking master educator.
