When Sharon finished her post-doctoral training at the University of Kentucky, she was looking for a university to call home and decided on UT.
"I am a native Tennessean, so what could be better than studying worms, bugs, blood and guts as a parasitologist at UT's Veterinary College?" Sharon said.
As a professor, Sharon always puts her students first.
"One of my favorite memories here at UT has been hearing my students yell, 'Voracious bloodsuckers'!" Sharon recalled.
Her experience at UT also has been rich with lessons.
"I have learned to work hard, enjoy people and accept both success and defeat," Sharon said. "I also have learned to listen to others, not take myself too seriously, and the importance and reward of unconditionally loving the students!"
Sharon is happily married to her husband, Raymond, and has a daughter, Rachel. She is a fan of Big Orange sports and enjoys listening to audiobooks and teaching Sunday School at her church.
